ACHEMA 2027: Dates and Exhibitor Guide for the Process Industries

Date
14.–18. June 2027
Location
Messe Frankfurt,
Frankfurt
Country
Germany

ACHEMA 2027 takes place in Frankfurt from 14 to 18 June. The exhibition and congress bring together companies and professionals from the chemical, pharmaceutical, biotechnology, laboratory and process industries, as well as industrial environmental technology.

Most solutions presented at ACHEMA operate inside a system rather than on its surface. Visitors may need to understand a flow, reaction, measurement or production result that cannot be seen simply by looking at the equipment. For exhibitors, the challenge is to make that process clear without reducing a complex solution to a vague sales claim.

This guide covers the practical details of ACHEMA 2027 and explains how to plan an exhibition stand that helps visitors understand the process, examine the evidence and speak to the right people on your team.

What is ACHEMA?

ACHEMA is an international exhibition and congress for the process industries and life sciences. Held in Frankfurt, it covers technology from laboratory research and early development through to production, packaging, energy management and safe plant operation.

The event is relevant to suppliers of complete plants as well as companies offering individual components, materials, measuring instruments and digital systems. ACHEMA is organised into 11 exhibition groups:

  • Digital Hub
  • Engineering and Energy
  • Industrial and Labour Safety
  • Instrumentation, Control and Automation Techniques
  • Laboratory and Analytical Techniques
  • Literature, Information, Learning and Teaching Aids
  • Mechanical Processes
  • Pharmaceutical, Packaging and Storage Techniques
  • Pumps, Valves and Materials
  • Research and Innovation
  • Thermal Processes

Review the organiser’s overview of the ACHEMA exhibition groups and the latest hall plan when considering your stand location and the areas where your most relevant visitors are likely to spend their time.

Who attends ACHEMA?

ACHEMA attracts professionals from chemicals, pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, food production, energy and industrial environmental technology. The audience includes manufacturers and plant operators, laboratories, research institutions, engineering companies and suppliers to the process industries.

Depending on your product, you may meet process and project engineers, laboratory managers, production managers, researchers, quality and safety specialists, procurement teams and technical decision-makers. Some visitors will be comparing a specific component or instrument. Others will be investigating a complete plant, a new production method or a partner for a future project.

This range is one reason a single generic pitch is rarely enough. A technical buyer may arrive with a defined specification, while an engineer is still exploring how a solution could fit into an existing process. Your stand should make it easy for both to find a useful starting point.

ACHEMA 2027 dates, venue and exhibitor registration

  • Dates: 14–18 June 2027
  • Venue: Messe Frankfurt, Frankfurt am Main, Germany
  • Format: International exhibition and congress for the process industries and life sciences
  • Official website: ACHEMA

Online exhibitor registration is open. The organiser has not set a general application deadline – stand space is allocated subject to availability. Applications are binding and subject to payment, and the minimum standard stand size is 12 m².

The organiser’s ACHEMA Calculator can provide an initial estimate of its own exhibition charges. Keep stand rental, technical services, stand design, transport, installation and staffing as separate lines in your working budget. This makes it easier to see the full cost of attending rather than treating the floor space as the total exhibition cost.

Visitor tickets for 2027 will be available closer to the event. Check the official ticket page when inviting customers or arranging attendance for colleagues.

Decide which part of the process your stand should explain

A process solution can have dozens of relevant specifications and benefits. Presenting all of them with equal weight makes it difficult for a visitor to know where to begin.

Choose one central process, problem or decision that the stand should make easier to understand. For example:

  • How a raw material moves through a treatment stage.
  • How a measurement is used to control or document a process.
  • How a component reduces waste, energy use or maintenance.
  • How a laboratory method transfers to larger-scale production.
  • How cleaning, changeovers or sampling fit into daily operation.

Build the main presentation as a simple sequence from input to process and result. A visitor with only a few minutes should be able to grasp the principle. Specialists can then move into the conditions and specifications that determine whether the solution will work in their plant.

Make an invisible process visible

It is rarely possible to bring a complete chemical plant, production environment or laboratory to Frankfurt. Instead, selected physical elements can be combined with models, samples, visualisations and documentation.

A cutaway component can reveal internal construction. A transparent model can illustrate the flow through a system. Material samples can make differences in surface, filtration or output tangible. A short animation can show what happens inside closed equipment or how several units work together.

Select the medium according to what is otherwise difficult to see. If film or animation is the clearest way to explain the process, an LED screen can be integrated into the exhibition stand. Keep detailed process diagrams and data displays closer to eye level, where your team can refer to them during a technical conversation.

Give every sample a purpose

Samples and components provide a natural way to begin a conversation, but each one should have a defined role. You might show a material before and after treatment, an accepted and rejected product, or several stages of the same process.

Tell visitors what they should notice and what created the difference. If the sample does not prove the performance claim on its own, do not present it as though it does. Use it as an illustration and keep the supporting test conditions or data available separately.

Plan how samples will be labelled, stored and replenished during the event. Packaging, technical literature and demonstration materials quickly create clutter if they do not have a permanent place. Integrated storage keeps stock and personal belongings out of the presentation area while leaving them accessible to the stand team.

Present technical evidence in layers

Relevant visitors at ACHEMA are likely to need more than a broad promise of greater efficiency or improved quality. They need to know under which conditions a result was achieved and whether those conditions resemble their own process.

Begin with a small number of meaningful figures and state the assumptions behind them. Depending on the solution, these might include capacity, measuring range, purity, energy consumption, tolerances or maintenance intervals. Choose figures that help a visitor decide whether a more detailed discussion is worthwhile.

Then have the material required for a technical review ready:

  • Test conditions and materials used.
  • Relevant standards, approvals or classifications.
  • Temperature, pressure, flow and other operating limits.
  • Cleaning, calibration and service requirements.
  • Interfaces with the customer’s existing equipment and systems.

The stand graphics should establish the hierarchy, not carry every detail. Data sheets, case studies and the right specialist can support the next level of the conversation. Graphics and print can help create a clear progression from the main message to the process and finally the technical evidence.

Create different entry points for different job functions

The most technically complete explanation is not always the best opening for every visitor. Prepare short, role-specific entry points for the people you most want to meet.

A process engineer may begin with capacity, operating conditions and interfaces. A quality specialist may want to see traceability, validation and documentation. A production manager may focus on uptime, cleaning and implementation, while procurement may ask about service life, support and total investment.

These conversations should lead to the same accurate account of the solution, but they do not need to begin in the same place. Brief the stand team on when to involve a technical specialist and how to retain a qualified contact if that person is already occupied.

The stand layout should support both a short introduction and a more detailed review. An open area can handle the first explanation, while a table or quieter zone provides space for drawings, samples and project requirements. Explore the options for custom exhibition stands from Wieben Design.

Plan utilities, installation and safety around the demonstration

Process equipment may require more than a standard electrical connection. Water, compressed air, drainage, network access or specialist installations can affect both the position of the equipment and the stand construction. According to the organiser, connection points are shown on the stand plan and technical services are ordered through the exhibitor portal.

Confirm the following early:

  • Equipment dimensions, weight and access requirements during move-in.
  • Electricity, water, compressed air, drainage and data connections.
  • Heat, noise, moving parts and the need for protective barriers.
  • Liquids, gases, materials or samples used in the demonstration.
  • Storage, cleaning and disposal during the exhibition.
  • Time for installation, testing and troubleshooting before opening.

Using pressurised or liquefied gases on the stand requires written consent from DECHEMA. The organiser must receive written information about the gases by 14 April 2027, and gas cylinders or containers may need separate approval. Other exhibits and structures can be subject to different requirements. Use the ACHEMA exhibitor FAQ, technical guidelines and relevant forms as the basis for your project-specific planning.

Give your stand supplier the necessary technical information in good time. ACHEMA allows exhibitors to create a sub-account for a stand builder or agency, enabling them to work with technical orders without seeing stand rental and other pricing information.

Use the congress programme to plan valuable conversations

ACHEMA combines the exhibition with a congress. The congress focuses on application-oriented research and development, from proof of concept towards market readiness, as well as current issues in process technology. Review the ACHEMA 2027 congress programme as it is published.

The programme can show when important audience groups will be discussing a subject related to your solution. If a session has a strong connection to your work, plan stand staffing around it and invite relevant contacts to meet before or after the session.

It is also worth following ACHEMA’s six innovation themes: process, pharma, lab, digital, green and energy innovation. They connect subjects across the exhibition groups and can help you place your solution in a wider context without making claims broader than the product can support.

Record the process requirements behind each lead

After a technical conversation, a name and email address are not enough to continue the discussion effectively. Record the conditions that determine whether your solution fits the visitor’s process.

Useful details may include:

  • The material or product involved.
  • Required capacity and key process conditions.
  • Existing equipment and necessary interfaces.
  • Documentation, safety or quality requirements.
  • The current project stage and the agreed next action.

That next action might be a test using the customer’s material, a review of a process diagram or a meeting with several departments on the customer’s side. The follow-up can then begin with the actual application instead of returning to a generic product presentation.

Is ACHEMA the right trade show for your company?

ACHEMA is particularly relevant if your solution is used in laboratories, chemical or pharmaceutical production, biotechnology or other process industries. If you work more broadly with automation, machine building, energy or digitalisation across manufacturing sectors, HANNOVER MESSE 2027 may also deserve consideration.

The choice should be based on the companies and professionals you need to meet and the application you want to demonstrate. The size of an exhibition matters less than whether the right visitors can understand why your solution is relevant to them.
